Miguel Esteban is a Canadian/American musical director, pianist, and violinist/violist previosly based in Toronto, Canada. He is currently a student in the MA Musical Theatre (Musical Direction) Program at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto (UofT), holding a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. He also received his Master’s in Teaching from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at UofT.

Miguel developed a deep passion for musical theatre and as a pianist, violinist, and musical director, has been part of over 50 productions in the past 6 years with various professional and community companies. Most recently, he was the Musical Director for the 2022-23 Theatre Season at the Oshawa Little Theatre (OLT) where he music directed Putting It Together, The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, and Disney’s Descendants. Other music directing credits include work with Mansfield Entertainment (Peter Pan: The New British Musical, Cinderella The Panto: Step Sisters’ Revenge, Spongebob the Musical) and the OLT Mainstage Season and Summer Youth Program (Seussical, Annie Jr., Frozen Jr., Camp Rock, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, James and the Giant Peach).

As the 2022/23 Director of Education & Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity at the OLT, Miguel combined his passion for education and musical theatre by founding and leading the OLT Youth Theatre Orchestra, which gave young musicians the opportunity to learn about musical theatre pit playing, attend various workshops related to musician health and pit playing, work with professional musicians and conductors, and perform in the pit for a live show at the end of the year.

Miguel performed regularly with the UofT Symphony Orchestra as a violinist and keyboardist. In the past, he has been the Concertmaster for the Intermediate Mooredale Orchestra in Toronto, and the La Jeunesse Youth Orchestra (LJYO) in Port Hope, ON. Miguel has been a featured soloist on violin and piano in LJYO multiple times, and as a solo violinist in the Northumberland Orchestra and Choir. Miguel has also performed with the Moonglow Jazz Strings, and the Peterborough Pop Ensemble.
